Sixty-eight illustrations (b&w photos), seven maps including one large unfoldable formerly glued-on but now laid-in map of the Empty Quarter. Memoir by British officer Thesiger of his travels by foot and camel in northeast Africa and the Arabian Peninsula in 1945-50. 8vo, dove gray paper over boards with stylized desert sand dune illustration, blue cloth quarter with white lettering, worn at crown/heel/corners down to cardboard, sunned around margins, edges/end papers age-toned. A 1959 gift inscription, and names and notes of later owners Profs. Ann and Warner Berthoff written on front free end paper; her underscoring and/or marginalia on approximately 16 pages, page-reference notes on end papers.
