About This Item
Adelaide, 1905. First Edition . Card covers. Very Good/Very Good. Rare copies of original 1905 publications. Thistle Anderson caused an uproar by publishing "Arcadian Adelaide", lampooning Adelaide and its inhabitants. It was reprinted at least ten times and inspired several attempts at response, most notably from Mrs F. Ellis in "A Scratch From An Adelaide 'Cat'" [which solicited a 4-page rebuttal by Anderson within "The Arcadians". Three booklets: "Arcadian Adelaide" [Wakefield Press, 1985] facsimile+introductory essay by Derek Whitelock; "A Scratch From An Adelaide 'Cat'" [G. Hassell & Son, 1905] first & only printing; excellent copy and rare; "The Arcadians" [Modern Printing Company, 1905], Fourth Edition, some toning & tidemarks to front; a very good copy
