About This Item
Hardback. Very Good/Very Good. MIT Press, Cambridge MA and London, 1996; 210 x 234mm; pp 250, [5]; extensively illustrated throughout with monochrome photographs; yellow cloth boards, spine lettered black, largely yellow dust wrapper; occasonal slight dust marking of the wrapper but otherwise an exceptionally good copy of this important and very attractively produced book. The book consists of a dozen autobiographical essays by female architects from both Europe and north America, considering how the introduction of women as architects into the traditionally male profession of architecture might bring about, as the jacket comments, "a reconstruction of the orders that shape architectural production and consumption". NOTE that as the book has been printed on cast coated paper it's fairly heavy, weighing in at over 950g, and will therefor attract a poostage supplement for overseas orders, the exact amount depending on destination and service. Postage will be standard on UK orders.
