About This Item

zong jing xiao Tian yuan cheng shi wen hua shi ye you xian gong Si, 1998. Book. Near Fine. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). First Edition. A near fine copy with just a trace of reading and shelf wear. The dust jacket shows some rubbing to the rear panel and is protected now in a clear archival sleeve. Written in Chinese with English translations of the Section and Chapter titles, as well as a brief biography of Joe Ming Chu, this book is a memoir of architectural achievements from Texas to Taiwan, as well as a look back at life, travel, and artistic pursuits. Numerous color photos and architectural drawings document the professional accomplishments of this important architect. Joe Ming Chu, as he was known in the U.S., designed numerous buildings in the San Antonio, Texas area, school buildings in particular, as can be seen in the Chronological List of Works section of this book (Works in Marmon & Mok Architects Office as Director of Design / San Antonio, Texas, 1961-1972). Following the San Antonio, Texas period is a pictorial chronology of his work in Hong Kong and Taiwan, 1973-1998. The book is organized into the following sections: Life Journey, Selected Works, Chronological List of Works, Essay, and Art. 219 pages, profusely illustrated. SIGNED by Joe Ming Chu to the previous owners of the book. A very scarce copy, particularly with the architect's signature..
