Phila: Childs & Peterson. FAIR book. Title page and map supplied in facsimile.. c1850s. early edition. Hardcover. FAIR book. VG text but MISSING all prelims BEFORE the one page publisher's ads. NO map, frontis, half title or full title page. . Nice reading copy. Full sheep binding with two gilt lettered black leather spine labels stating "ARCTIC EXPLORATIONS" & "VOL. 1". Lettering quite clear. Paper of both inner hinges cracked, tho hinges still sound. Text block tight. No loose pages or sprung signatures. Scuffed & worn covers. Text decent with scattered light aging & foxing BUT all plate margins foxed. This foxing has offset to the adjoining pages. There are 10 pages of notes at end, should be 12, so, last leaf MISSING. Plates & all text pages, but for that very last, collated complete. .
