Denslow; Ike Morgan . 315p. in decorative publishers cloth binding, shing cotton crops with log cabin in background, title and name in gilt, similarly designed spine. Cover, illustrated frontis, line drawings throughout by W. W. Denslow and Ike Morgan. Inscribed/signed by the author: Dr. Q. S. McNair, I have a fondness for one of the characters in this book - old Gia. He is full of weakness, and I like weaknesses - they are so human. Opie Read Private library stamp of Dr. Q. McNair. Gilt top, uncut text block. Read published a total of 54 separate books, of which 31 were novels, 18 were book-length compilations of short fiction such as that published in the Arkansas Traveler, the magazine he founded. He edited five newspapers of the U.S. South: Statesville Argus, Bowling Green Pantograph, Louisville Courier Journal based in Kentucky, and The Evening Post and Gazette of Little Rock, Arkansa, which was a predecessor of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette.
