New Haven, CT: Yale University Press, 1954. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine in a lightly soiled, Near Fine dustwrapper with a tanned spine. Poet's first book, INSCRIBED to the poet William Meredith: "For Bill, whose praise at their/advent and whose friendship since/are among the most pleasant returns/these poems have brought me./Dan/Swarthmore/3 June 1961." Laid in is a small original color photograph of Meredith with a little girl annotated on the rear by Hoffman and an AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED from Hoffman to Meredith on a post card regarding Laura Riding's criticism of his article about Robert Graves.
