Macmillan, Melbourne, 1983. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Very Good. VIII, 184 pages, last page blank, list of illustrations and authors' note. Black coloured endpapers. The text is illustrated by eight black-and-white photographs and one map of Europe. Black coloured boards with white titles to the backstrip. Shelf wear to the lower book edges. there is a small mark at the top right of the first page where a name sticker had been until I removed it. Illustrated dustwrapper, with red background and black titles to the front panel and backstrip. A little rubbing and creasing to the top and bottom dustwrapper edges and a faint hint of fading to the backstrip. The autobiography of the author whose family for many generations lived in the same small village in Hungary, but whose life disintegrated at the advent of World War II, and the invasion of Hungary by the Germans. It tells of his interment in Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, his eventual liberation to France and emigration to Australia. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
