New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1923. Limited edition. Hardcover. Very good condition. From an edition limited to 1500 copies, 500 reserved for the United States, this volume numbered 566. Robert Lockhart Hobson (1872-1941) worked at the British Museum for over 40 years (1897-1938). He was Keeper of Ceramics and Ethnography from 1921 and Keeper of Oriental Antiquities and Ethnography from 1934-38. He was a specialist in Western and Oriental ceramics.

Half vellum with striped blue and orange paper covered boards. Small folio, xx, 3-20, plus 152 plates in black and white and original color. Each plate is accompanied by guard sheet with descriptive letterpress. A bit rubbed and marked, short split top of spine at rear board (not visible on shelf) some sunning to top edge of rear board. A b&w glossy print 'Sung Dynasty Celadon Vase' loosely inserted; small Boston bookshop label ffep. The plates and tissue guards in very good condition. OCLC: 2194772.
