London: James Virtue, London, 1868. First edition. Hardcover. Fair. Approx. 13'' by 10'', original green cloth binding with gilt titles on spine & decoration on front. Corners bumped, with a water stain to bottom right corner of the binding & some edgewear particularly to spine. Small part missing from top of spine.Viii + 288pp (with another 186pp of the Paris universal exhibition catalogue, illustrated throughout text) illustrated with 27 engravings, 1 plate of sculptures & other illustrations throughout text. Numerous artists work including Maclise, Leslie, Ward, Crowe, Faed, Landseer, Cuyp, Delaroche, Osborn, Yeames etc. The articles cover subjects such as architecture, design, furniture, costume, sculture, portraits, landscapes, classical, individual artists & movements etc. Generally the inner book is in very good condition, with a little foxing. Sticker/bookplate mark (?) on front pastedown**Over 1kg & may require extra overseas postage**
