Sixmilebridge, Co Clare: The Ashling Press, 1976. The first English language translation of 'Art de Faire le Papier' by Joseph Jerome La Francais de Lalande, Paris 1761. Translated into English by Richard MacIntyre Atkinson. No. 185 of an edition of 405, this being one of 50 copies in full leather with a decorated upper board, and gilt titling to spine. Signed by the printer Paul Kavanagh and by the paper-maker/publisher Ian O'Casey. [6], 116 pages text, 14 plates including one folding as called for + duplicate of plate 2. Laid-in is a typed letter signed from Ian O'Casey apologising to the original purchaser for the error and offering a replacement copy, together with an original prospectus for the edition. Very good condition. [699]. Limited. Black Leather, Gilt. Very Good. 370mm. x 275mm.. Book.
