The book is protected in a red cloth chemise housed in a red morocco spined slip case, made by James Macdonald Co. New York. Spine with raised bands, ruled in blind. Lettered in gilt.:

Boots the Chemist. ND.,(1927). NEW EDITION. 4to (10.1 x 8.1 inches). Sixteen full colour plates, mounted within a black ruled border. Each plate with the title printed below the border. 95 line illustrations throughout, some full page. Previous owners neat name on front blank endpaper otherwise a fine copy in original burgundy cloth with gilt illustrations and lettering to front board and spine. Front board with quadruple ruled black borders, spine ruled in gilt. In the scarce original publshers dustwrapper with colour illustration mounted onto the front panel, below black lettering and four line border. Flaps and other panels lettered in black. Original printed price (15/-) on spine has been blacked out neatly. Aside from a couple of tiny chips to the wrapper this is a beautiful fine example of this well produced edition. Scarce in this condition.:

Los Angeles: Ward Richie, 1929. Octavo. 2pp. This is the second production noted in the bibliography of premier Southern California printer, Ward Richie. The edition consisted of 150 copies; it was a student project, done while Richie attended Frank Wiggins Trade School in Los Angeles. The choice of a Carl Sandburg poem is significant, as Sandburg and Richie shared a longtime friendship with Los Angeles bookseller and publisher, Jake Zeitlin. This is one of the scarcest of early Sandburg editions. 1printed sheet printed on [2]pages folded laid into 1 printed folded sheet (wrapper) lightly finger soiled with small chip to rear wrap. A very good copy.

Toronto: Macmillan of Canada, 1972. Decorative label signed by Robertson Davies laid in. First edition / First printing. Bright orange cloth. Fine in near fine dust jacket, with a short closed tear to the top front panel light creases, and wear primarily to the rear top corner of the spine. An exceptional copy of both the book and the fragile dust jacket. Second book in the Deptford Trilogy.

New York: Sparrow Press, 1955.. Small octavo. Pictorial wrapper and frontis after a drawing by Michael Lekakis. White portions of wrapper slightly darkened, but very good. First edition of the poet's third book, presumably the ordinary unnumbered issue. One of 225 copies from a total edition of two hundred and fifty copies printed at the Divers Press, Mallorca. Rather than being numbered and signed (as were the first twenty- five copies), this copy bears the author's signed, early inscription on the colophon: "for Seamus over & below all numbers."

Limited to only 22 copies, 109pp., illustrated, folder contains a typed manuscript from page 34 of Updike's play and is signed. The Texas Arts Journal is published only four times a year with contributor's such as William Saroyan, John Updike, Morse Peckham, George Garrett, James Purdy and Glyn Jones. Fine and housed in a custom slipcase.

The book has clean covers, rubbed lower outside corner tips, some browning to page edges, no foxing, solid binding, no owner marks or writing on pages (other than author's signed inscription). The original dust jacket has loss upper front edge, 3cm tear upper rear, flecked spine ends. The book measures 237mm tall x 182mm, and has 183 pages, 104 b/w plates (1 double fold-out), 7 color plates. PHOTOS ARE OF ACTUAL ITEM BEING OFFERED.
