Cleveland: Arthur H. Clark Company, 1918. First Edition. 352pp. Octavo [24.5 cm] Red cloth with title and rules gilt stamped on backstrip. Top edge gilt. Very good. Name in ink at head of front free endsheet. Fold-out map present. The first publication of these accounts served in large part to rescue Jedediah Smith from obscurity. Later treatments by Sullivan, Morgan and others have lifted his reputation to equal status with the other major fur trade figures of the early nineteenth century.
