Light brown cloth with paper label (which is chipped and scratched) on spine. Boards pushed in at bottom corner. Rubbing to boards. Some creasing to spine. Front hinge cracked. Frontispiece detached and laid in. Translated from the 97th French edition. Illustrated with sixteen page engravings from designs by Bellenger, Clairin, Amdre Gill, Leloir, Rose and Vierge. Pages browned. Some brown spots to front illustrations. Previous owner's name label affixed to front pastedown. Decorative endpapers (green floral pattern). Half title page has a tear and hole near top and hole near bottom. 16 pages of ads dated July, 1884 at rear.
