Gregory, (1661-1708), a Scottish mathematician and astronomer, was a close friend of Newton who thought so highly of this work that he contributed a section on Lunar Theory (page 332-336) which has long been the guide of practical astronomers in determining the moon's motion. The preface also treats Newton's theory of gravitation with his "Classical Scholia." -- Babson 71. Gray 87. DSB.
