About This Item
London: Phaidon Press, 2000. Book. Very Good. Soft cover. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. First published in 1988, this is the 2000 reprint of the 1996 first softcover edition. Condition: Very good, with a hint of shelfwear to covers. Binding sound, no inscriptions. 128pp. Many colour and b/w illustrations. The paintings of Leeds artist Atkinson Grimshaw (1836-93) are well-known and loved, particularly in the North of England where he did so much of his work. This was the first comprehensive study of the artist and shows the full breadth of Grimshaws' work, from the early paintings of lakeland and Yorkshire landscapes to the townscapes, dock scenes, coastal views and richly colourful portrayals of sophisticated Victorian ladies..
