About This Item
Hertfordshire, England: Model Aeronautical Press. Very Good with no Dust Jacket. 1966. 1st Edition. Hardcover. SIGNED by Kenneth McDonough. First edition copy No. 322 label on front pastedown. This is the story of the conquest of an ocean; the linking of the Old World to the New by aeroplane. It attempts to create, by word and picture, the atmosphere of an age of vibrating fabric, the acrid fume of burning oil and cellulose dope, when two hundred miles an hour was still a magic figure. An age of hand-made aeroplanes, of pilots and navigators still learning their craft. Chips along fore edge of front board. Number on front pastedown. Between pages 56 & 57 is a color illustrated spread showing the Junkers W-33L, number D1167. It is upside down to the rest of the book. ; B&W and color Illustrations; Small 4to 9" - 11" tall; 132 pages; 29056; Signed by Author .
