First published in 1951, this was described as "the perfect reference book" by Art News and Review." Contains b&w photos, illustrations and drawings as well as explanatory text. Original black cloth publisher's covers with gilt spine lettering. This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings, no previous owner names and no bookplates. Aside from a bit of wear to the top of dust jacket spine and a tiny chip to the bottom of the jacket's spine, the dust jacket in similarly nice condition with no other chips, tears, or markings. The latest date is the 1979 copyright renewal, so that may be the publication date of this copy. ; B&W Photos & Illustrations; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 272 pages .
