The author was associated with Center for Ecologic Politics of Russia. The author is believed to be the Alexey Yablokov who "is a prominent Russian environmentalist, former member of USSR parliament and environmental advisor to the Russian President Yeltsin and to the Gorbachev administration. He pioneered the application of "phenetic" marks (the smallest differences in anatomical structures such as the difference in ear shape on the two sides of a person) to the detection of animal population structure and environmental stress. Yablokov has been active in many efforts to reveal conservation and pollution challenges in Russia addressing such issues as illegal whaling. Yablokov focuses on the problems of radiation contamination, particularly in marine ecosystems and biology of the marine mammals." Among the Myths addressed are: Security of nuclear reactors, Ecologic cleanliness of nuclear reactors, Safety of low-dose radiation, Chernobyl, Economic Effectiveness of Atomic Programs, Necessity of dealing with the used atomic fuel, Necessity of building the atomic stations (power plants), the problem of radioactive spent fuel, safety and effectiveness of underground nuclear tests, "Peaceful Nuclear Energy" [explosions?], Minatom as a critical organization in Russia, and Objectivity of MAGATG [the International Atomic Energy Agency].
