About This Item

New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1982 WYSIWYG pricing--no added shipping charge for standard shipping within USA. No date on copyright page--DJ says Fall 1982. Sewn in limp leather-textured blue-grey vinyl covers, 846, [2] pp including a 240 pp section of color-keyed maps and color photos, glossary, index. Has a couple of small spots on bottom edge, else fine. DJ has original price clipped, and revised price on sticker apparently applied by publisher. DJ is a 13 cm band that exposes part of the vinyl covers. Color section contains color-keyed maps, a section on identifying fossil-bearing rocks & outcroppings, and a fossil-identification section arranged by general type and shape, which is useful for identifying unfamiliar fossils. Photos are then keyed to descriptions in the text which are arranged by phylum and class to bring related fossils together. The Audubon Society guides are always my first reference for identification and basic information. Shipping weight 2 lbs.. First Edition. Near Fine/Fine. 19½ X 10 cm.
