This book tells his full life story and covers all phases of his work including assessing his importance as an artist, with numerous tipped-in plates, including colour photographs and facsimile letters revealling the great power and beauty of this artist's work. This work also includes little-known paintings, drawings and etchings by Rodin. A very good book. *** Vidal Sassoon, CBE (17 January 1928 9 May 2012) was a British hairdresser, businessman, and philanthropist. He is credited with creating a simple geometric, "Bauhaus-inspired" hair style, also called the wedge bob. Establishing himself in the US in 1965, he opened the first chain of worldwide hairstyling salons, complemented by a line of hair-treatment products that became an international brand. In 1967, he married his second wife, actress Beverly Adams. One of his clients Diana Dors reportedly paid him $2500 to fly to the United States to wash and style her hair for a special occasion..." - See Encyclopedia of Hair: A Cultural History, edited by Victoria Sherrow . **** Alan Lake was born in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire on 24 November 1940. He began work in television roles in 1964. He is best known as the third husband of the actress Diana Dors, whom he met on the set of the 1968 television series The Inquisitors. He was initially not keen on Dors, his reaction on finding that he would be working with her "Oh no, not Madame Tits and Lips!", but within days they had fallen in love and were married on 23 November 1968..." - See Wikipedia. ***** Diana Dors starred with Beverly Adams in the 1968 film Hammerhead; British security borrow an American secret agent to aid in capturing a master criminal known as Hammerhead, who is suspected of planning to steal some secret reports of a foolproof nuclear defense system. Based on a novel by Jams Mayo. ******* N.B. Vilma Thursfield was the sister of Alan Lake. I think Glyn C. Thursfield was related to her.
