London: Evans Brothers, 1953. Gold title on red cloth boards which are clean and unmarked with no wear. Internally there is a prize bookplate to half title page (curiously awarded for proficiency in French) else very clean, tight and unmarked. A Very Good+ copy. Dustjacket has some wear to edges and is not price clipped. Map endpapers and 17 illustrations. Uniform with 'The Window on the World' series of travel books. First published in 1952. The author, a great-grandson of early settlers in Victoria, who has travelled all over the huge continent, working as a gold miner, wharf labourer, seaman and cattle drover, grape picker on the Murray River, riding on camel patrol in Central Australia, traversing the Northern Territories and travelling into the Black Country with the flying Doctor. He covers Australia's history, geography, natural resources, agriculture and industry and provides a vivid and unforgettable picture of a vast, colourful and magnificent country. A fascinating early travelogue. B2C. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
