About This Item

Nedlands, Australia: Univ of Western Australia, 1953. Orange (perhaps red faded to orange) boards, gilt titles, show considerable wear, including lower edges rubbed to the boards, splits along upper and lower hinge, abrasions at head and heel of spine. Hinges and interior are tight. Former owner's name (Richard Chase) and map ("Australia and New Guinea Sedimentary Basins") stapled to front free endpaper. Owner's name again written p. I/11. A few instances of seemingly scholarly marginal annotation in both pen and pencil: I/13, I/14, I/44, II/10, II/23, X/17, including the redaction of half a paragraph on XI/14, redaction accomplished with waveform blue line allowing redacted material to be easily read. There are rare occasional instances of foxing, and other small stains resulting from past impression of insects (small moths and flies) the carcases of which the seller believes he has removed. Seller would guess that this book was used in the field. Pouch laid in on rear pastedown contains "Gregor's Road Map of Australia." Paginated by chapter, the titles of which are I Introduction, II Cambrian, III Ordovician, IV Silurian, V Devonian, VI Carboniferous, VII Permian, VIII Trias, IX Jurassic, X Cretaceous, XI Tertiary, XII Quaternary, with a bibliography appended to each chapter. . Second. Cloth. Good/No Jacket. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Textbook.
