First Edition [Hutchinson & Co, London, 1920]; viii, 352 pages; navy cloth boards, gold titling to spine, minor rubbing, front hinge split at title page [binding remains firm], photographic plate between 274-5pp evidently loose for substantial period & edges damaged but has been re-glued in correct position. An excellent copy of a scarce first printing. Published in Australasia by Gordon & Gotch. Numerous b&w photographic plates & colour fold-out battle maps. With an appendix describing 29 individual deeds of gallantry by soldiers awarded Victoria Cross medals. Sir John Monash was Australia's most outstanding WW1 military commander.
