Gihon & Smith (Philadelphia), 1846. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. Good ; No jacket. 1846 Gihon & Smith. Small (5" x 7.5") hardcover book has tan paper-covered boards and black cloth spine. Spine has paper panel with title: 'The Life of Sir Walter Scott'. Panel is chipped at top edge, and somewhat discolored. Spine ends bumped. Corners bumped and rounded. Edges rubbed. Surface wear. Covers lightly stained. Front endpaper has small bookstore label: 'From W. A Leary's Cheap Book Store, No. 158 North Second Street, corner of New. Philad'a." Name in ink on first page. Sewn binding. Some pages have light brown stains in the margins. A few pages have small stains on text. Many pages have a few light foxing stains in margins. One sheet of paper forming two leaves (four pages) has detached from the center of a signature. There is a light stain in the gutter from a old attempt to glue it in. Pages still present. Otherwise, binding is intact. Hinges NOT cracked. 288 pages. No dust jacket. Carefully packed, shipped in a box.
