3 Osnaburgh Terrace, 2 March [1857]. 2 pp. 7 x 4 inches, fine, with the original franked envelope. Richard James Lane (1800 - 1872), was a prolific Victorian engraver and lithographer. The National Portrait Gallery has some 850 lithographs of his portraits and figure studies, done between 1825 and 1850. ... I never yet heard of an appeal of the sort made to a Hanger that was received with anything but a smile.- and I never made or conveyed one ...
