Very good. - Closely written letter penned in black ink and filling one side of an 11 inch high by 8-1/2 wide sheet of Hotel Kernay, Baltimore letterhead with the hotel pictured in black at the top. Kyle has written in above the printed address "Academy of Music". Signed "Howard Kyle". Pond's "date answered" stamp is placed above the text of the letter. Folded 3 times for mailing. Very good. <p>Kyle writes from Baltimore where he is appearing in "a new play, 'All the King's Horses' by Louis K. Anspacher". He is inviting J. B. Pond of the Pond Lecture Bureau in New York City and his wife to attend a dinner to be given by the Society of Arts and Sciences in honor of the Actors Fidelity League. "I sent your name in as one of my friends who should be given the opportunity to attend....It should be an interesting affair to say the least....It could be arranged, I think, so you would sit at my wife's table, if desirable to you."<p>Howard Kyle [1861-1950] was an American stage and screen actor and lecturer for more than fifty years. He was a founding member of Actor's Equity and served as its first recording secretary, resigning in 1919 over a dispute involving the direction the organization was going. Later he served as secretary of The Actors Fidelity League, a rival organization headed by George M. Cohan. He was a sixty-year member of the Players Club and was best remembered for his starring role in turn-of-the-century plays "Way Down East", "Nathan Hale" and "John Ermine of the Yellowstone".
