About This Item
Athenaeum, undated [c.1875]. 1 page 7 x 4 inches, traces of corner mounts, otherwise good. Edward Matthew Ward (1816-1879), Victorian narrative painter best known for his murals in the Palace of Westminster depicting episodes in British history from the English Civil War to the Glorious Revolution. I have humbly endeavoured to carry out by my pencil what you did so efficiently with your pen in what is and always was my view of the character of that greatest of our kings.
