NY: Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 1978. INSCRIBED & DATED. 1st/1st. First edition, first printing. Book is bright and tight with sharp corners and unmarred original photographic laminated boards. Mild wrinkle to spine end. Textblock is clean with no writing, bookplate or marks and not BCE, ex-library or remaindered. Inscribed on the front free endpaper "For Laurie, Avedon Dallas 1979." Printed acetate dust jacket is unclipped ($50.00) with yellowing to spine and front and one inch closed tear to top back. 162 black and white photographs in the text. 10 3/4" X 14" tall. Introductory essay by Harold Brodkey.
Images by Richard Avedon whose fashion and portrait photographs helped define America's image of style, beauty and culture for the last half-century. This folio size work depicts many of the glamorous, rich and famous people of the era.
