Original boards with illustrated dust-wrappers (price-clipped); pp. 297, plates after photographs; wrapper with a few repaired marginal flaws, gift inscription to initial blank, this leaf with clipped corner, otherwise very good. Scarce first edition of this work on the Australian-born legendary aviation pioneer. Sidney Cotton began flying n 1914 and in the 1920s pioneered airmail and aerial surveys in Newfoundland. During WWII Cotton worked on photographic reconnaissance. In 1916 he had invented the Sidcot flying suit.
