About This Item
Privately published, 2012. Very Good Plus. First Editions, Various issues, softcover 8vo, stapled, 56pp, b/w/color t/o, photo wrapper art. Vintage adult digest magazines featuring cheesecake & glamour photography of female models posing in heels, hose, garters, lingerie, burlesque costuming. Hundreds of similar digest magazines were produced by fly-by-night operations during 1960s, mainly around New York, most by Leonard Burtman. Earlier digest examples have airbrushing techniques rolled over from nudist magazines, much of the posing also naturally obscuring otherwise censored areas. Then, nearly all were packaged as "figure studies" for the artist or photographer. This current series aims to glorify the golden ages of pinup, cheesecake, glamour, and a nod to contemporary issues, models, performers, cartoons, ads. Still published to date. Still scarce institutionally. Nos. 19, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 30, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, Spotlight Edition: Sammie Marie,Nightcap Edition 3, Nightcap Edition 4, Nightcap Edition 5, Nightcap Edition 6, Nightcap Edition 11 (2012-2017, 2021). Very Good Plus, faint rubbing & toning. For mature, consenting audiences.
