White Pine Press, 2004. First edition. Brand new. Illustrated by Hide Oshiro. Very fine and bright stiff wraps with excellent square spine and crisp profusely illustrated text throughout. Basho 1644-1694 recorded many travels around Japan in his journals. This is one of his most famous. The nine month journey taken with his companion Sora to the back lands north of the capitol west to the Japan Sea back toward Kyoto. Journal as well as poetic sequence. It should be in every poet's library
