Tarzana, CA: Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc, 1937. 1st Edition. Soft cover. Very Good/Near Fine/Fine. 8vo., 318pp. Sharp Stated First Edition, bound in blue cloth with titles stamped in red. Square, tight and clean throughout. Some fairly mild edge-wear. Bumping to top tips. Some scattered spotting on both boards. Tiny signature on the front paste-down. Simply gorgeous unclipped first state, (laminated), dust-jacket, ($2.00), was clearly removed before reading as it is in stunning condition. A tiny, barely noticeable closed tear at the crown but otherwise a remarkably fresh and bright, well-preserved example with no chipping, creases or toning. John Coleman Burroughs designed the jacket as well as seven b&w interior illustrations. A beautiful collectable copy of the fifth Pellucidar novel and at a great price. (Zeuschner, p.32; Currey, p.92).

Synopsis

Back to the Stone Age is a novel written by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the fifth in his series set in the interior world of Pellucidar. It first appeared as a five-part serial in Argosy Weekly from January 9 to February 19, 1937 under the title "Seven Worlds to Conquer. " It was first published in book form in hardcover by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. in September, 1937 under the present title, and has been reissued a number of times since by various publishers.
