New York: The MacMillan Company, 1928. 379 pages; illustrated by Constance Garland; this is the fourth and concluding book in a series about the Garland and connecting families on their moves West in the 19th C. Garland was a distinguished middle-western writer, recipient of both the Pulitzer Prize and membership in the American Academy. This book chronicles his family's return to the East, with stories of important persons of the day, literary and others, and a partial account of a trip to England with his daughters. Black cover with red, gold & blue ltg & illus. 5.5'x7.5' 379 pgs. Remnants of library card slot on back endpaper and board, very faint Dewey Decimal lettering on spine, no other library markings, faded spine with dulled gilt lettering, rubbing, wear, and soil. Front hinge a bit weak.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Collectible-Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Illustrated.
