Boston: Houghton Mifflin and Co., 1895. This antique hardcover book is bound in dark blue cloth boards with decorative gilt lettering and etching on the front and spine. Spine ends are worn, but cover is mostly clean, tanned pages, wear, and soil. Hinges cracked. Top page edge is gilt. Frontispiece of the author, and small illustration on title page. The author uses the image of the hearth to evoke the idea of days gone by, and writes about the changing times in America on the eve of the 20th century. 262 pages; approx. 5"x8".. Hard Cover. Fair/No Jacket. Illus. by None.
