About This Item
Photograph shows Baddeck in the back ground with Bras Dor Lakes and birch tress in the foreground In 1920, MacAskill became a photographer for the Commercial Photo Service and by 1925 was the proprietor of this establishment. It was probably during this period that he met Elva Abriel, also a commercial photographer, who may have done some work for the Commercial Photo Service (C.P.S.). They were married in Enfield in 1926. Later MacAskill (1893-1956) became a world renowned Nova Scotia photographer who illustrated the romance of the sea as no one has done before or after. His photographs have won hundreds of national and international awards and may be found on walls throughout the world.
