Munich: Verlag Fr. Bassermann, 1911. 1911 Edition, VERY GOOD hardcover. From Germany's beloved poet and cartoonist, "Balduin", an illustrated poem or early cartoon was first published in 1883. This is an nicely preserved copy of the 1911 ediition, unmarked except for an owner name stamped on the title page. Text pages are crisp and clean. Bound in blue cloth cover with white and dark blue pictorial stamping on the fornt panel. The cover is clean but lightly toned along the edges and moderately edgworn, cloth frayed at spine ends, corners lightly bumped. No dust jacket (a jacket was probably not issued.) 5-1/2 x 8-1/4". 74 pages. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo.

München: Fr. Bassermann, 1883. First edition. Softcover. g-. Octavo. 74pp. Original illustrated sawn tan wraps with orange and black lettering on cover. Illustrated title page. In this second to last of Busch's picture stories Busch the central theme is artistic failure. Busch, though very popular as a caricaturist and poet, was unable to estalbish himself as a serious artist and poet. The story starts with a rhyme "wie wohl ist dem, der dann und wann, Sich etwas Schönes dichten kann (How well are those who once a while, Can write a beautiful poem with style). Publisher's ads on back covers. Text in German, Gothic script. Wraps with some wear along edges and spine, chips tears and light creasing. Very light, sporadic foxing. Pages 51-62 loose but present. Wraps and interior in overall good minus condition.
