London & New York: Wingate,, 1951. Octavo. Original purple cloth, titles to spine and front cover in silver, top edge purple and pale blue. With the dust jacket, designed by the author. Colour lithograph title page, illustrations to the text by the author, 33 double-sided plates. Bookseller's ticket to rear pastedown. A few small spots to spine, slight offsetting to endpapers, contents clean and free from ownership marks. A near-fine copy in the dust jacket, not price-clipped, spine mildly toned, else bright and sharp. First edition, first impression, of this personal memoir by Beaton, copiously illustrated. The same year this work was published, Beaton designed a one-act version of Swan Lake for the New York City Ballet.
