Colour lithograph title page, illustrations to the text by the author, 33 double-sided plates. Bookseller's ticket to rear pastedown. A few small spots to spine, slight offsetting to endpapers, contents clean and free from ownership marks. A near-fine copy in the dust jacket, not price-clipped, spine mildly toned, else bright and sharp. First edition, first impression, of this personal memoir by Beaton, copiously illustrated. The same year this work was published, Beaton designed a one-act version of Swan Lake for the New York City Ballet.

Clean pages, illustrations and plates with light tanning and mild foxing throughout. Moderate tanning to free endpapers due to dust jacket flaps. Pen inscriptions to front pastedown and free endpaper. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Lettering is bright and clear. Minor sunning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Visible wear marks to boards.
