Within the text there are 39 coloured and 162 black-and-white illustrations. Yellow tint to top paper edge. Yellow coloured boards with blind stamped title running down the front fore edge of the book and black writing on the spine. Illustrated dust wrapper, showing "Balzac wearing his monk's robe" by Boulanger, with orange and white writing on the front panel and spine. A biography of the French 19th century writer Honore Balzac. c. very slight rubbing at the heel of the spine, no other damage to describe. Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall.
