Delightful book, describing the Hardy Bamboos in cultivation in Britain. Presentation plate "From the Author" dated 1896 on ffep with his tiny notedated 1896 at top of endpaper. Ivory cloth cover with gilt illus. of a Bird and Bamboo on the front. Gilt lettering to spine. Frontis illus. Phyllostrachys Nigra (from a old Japanese Drawing), protected by tissue guard. Top page edges Gilt, other edges untrimmed. Spine tanned. Slight bump to bottom edge. No inscriptions.
