Philadelphia, J. B. Lippincott Company, 1895. Hardback, approx 8 x 5 inches. Halfbound in red crushed morocco and marbled paper to boards. Gilt line edging. Raised banding and gilt decorations and lettering to spine. Marbled endpapers. Top page edges gilt. In very good condition. Some rubbing to leather on edges of spine and to corners, some handling marks. Authors inscription to front endpaper “To dear Elo, from Marie Corelli, with Love. Mason Croft, Stratford-on-Avon, Dec. 29. 1902.” A couple of minor handling marks else pages all very clean, bright and tight throughout. Else a very good clean and tight copy. 317pp. Novel not only tells the story of Barabbas, of his love for the faithless Iscariot, and of his imprisonment and final redemption, but it brings vividly to life the chief protagonists in the tremendous drama of the crucifixion. SIGNED COPY.
