About This Item
New York, NY: Barnes & Noble , 1992 Barnes & Noble, New York. 1992. Hardcover. First Printing by Line Number. Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: Fine. DJ: Fine. Brown paper over boards with black cloth overlay on the spine with bright copper lettering on the spine. 181 pp 8vo. In the 17th and 18th century, the North African states of Tripoli, Tunis, Algeria, and Morocco wreaked havoc on European shipping and transportation. The booty, ransom, and slaves which resulted from this piracy became the main source of revenue for these states. The piracy of the Barbary states and the ensuing retaliation by the European states was one more battle in the ancient struggle between the Cross and the Crescent. A clean very presentable copy.
