Set in a brownstone apartment on East 48th Street in New York, the play opened on 23 October 1963 at the Biltmore Theatre. It was directed by Mike Nichols and starred Robert Redford and Elizabeth Ashley. Fireside Theatre Book Club Edition, 143 pages, jacket edges darkening, spine darkened. Neil Simon, born in 1927, was the most commercially successful playwright in Broadway history and is best known for his tight, domestic comedies.
