About This Item

First printing. Hardcover. Very Good/fine. Hardback Signed by "J Beharry VC." on title page. Also inscribed to Will with further signature and dated, possibly by Nick cook. See Photos. First with un clipped wrapper. 370 pages. Illustrated with photographs and maps. The autobiography of Johnson Beharry, a private with the 1st Battalion Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment, who received the Victoria Cross for acts of gallantry in the Iraq War in 2004. During a series of explosive operations in Iraq, Private Johnson Beharry carried out two acts of outstanding heroism, saving the lives of thirty men. In the second action, a rocket-propelled grenade exploded inches from his head, yet he managed to drive out of the ambush before collapsing. Nobody thought he would survive. Amazingly, he did pull through, becoming the first living recipient of the Victoria Cross for nearly forty years. From a childhood of grinding poverty in Grenada to his remarkable road to recovery, this is his incredible story.

About greaves-leaves

I am an independent retired individual who has specific interests in History, particularly local History and relevant scarce books. Many of the books for sale are from the collection I have built over the years. I do not operate as a business and spend a few hours a week on my hobby. However being retired I am usually available to service orders promptly and personally.
