Book Condition: Good; wear to head, tail, and tips; toning to endpapers; slight fading to spine; moisture spots on front board; rubbing to boards. No DJ. Red smooth buckram boards and spine with bright gilt lettering on the spine. Clean internals. Internal hinges are sound and not split. Rough cut edges on bottom and fore edge. Gilt textblock top. 208 pp + 16 pp of Methuen's listings dated October 1892. This is a book of a series of songs and poems dealing with the late-Victorian British Army and mostly written in a vernacular dialect. The series contains some of Kipling's most well-known work, including the poems "Gunga Din", "Tommy", "Mandalay", and "Danny Deever", which helped consolidate Kiplings early fame as a poet. A clean very presentable copy.
