Jenkins to previous owner on the front free endpaper in very good condition in fair dust jacket that is mylar protected. Dust jacket has wrinkling, chipping, crease, tears and some moderate tears on the edges, corners, and some sides, label on the lower spine, scattered scratches, rubbing, and scuffing, light tanning and shelf wear. Book has some bumped corners, wrinkling on the spine edges, some light stains on the page edges, light discoloration and shelf wear. 10.25"x7.5", 748 pages. Satisfaction Guaranteed. The result of 14 years of research, this is a guide to the 224 books that the author considers essential for any Texas research library, chosen from the over 100,000 books about Texas that have been published between Cabeza de Vaca's Relacion of 1542 and David Weber's The Mexican Frontier of 1982. The text, which usually runs several pages per entry, includes (1) full bibliographical details on every printing and issue; (2) quotations about the book from other scholars, (3) the story of how and why the book was written with anecdotes about the author and printer; (4) a detailed description of the contents of the book; (5) an analysis of the merits and inaccuracies, if any, in each book; (6) related books of significance; and (7) citations to other bibliographies. An additional 1017 Texas books are discussed and appraised and an annotated guide to 217 Texas bibliographies is included.
