During the past 30 years the British Army has been much reduced in size and some old and famous regiments and many batteries of the Royal Artillery have ceased to exist. Most of the infantry regiments which are left have been amalgamated into vast amorphous 'large' regiments, all of which bear much the same list of amalgamated Battle Honours, whilst those Honours which their integral parts have won have been submerged.
