Trenton, NE: Republican Leader, 1922. First edition. Tall ocatvo. [16] pp. including three photographic illustrations (author, Sky Chief, Eagle Chief, Golden Rod Highway). Printed in two columns. Publisher's printed beige wrappers with a photographic illustration/ Slight separation at head and foot, mild thumbing. Overall, a very good copy in the original wrappers.The author was trail agent for the Pawnees on their buffalo hunt in 1873, succeeding Texas Jack Omahundro. During the hunt they were attacked by their bitter enemies, the Sioux, and in the bloody conflict which followed 156 Pawnees were slain. There are some relevant pencil notes concerning the Pawnee hunt on the cover (easily erasable).
