The words FIRST PUBLISHED and the year appear on the copyright page with no additional printings indicated. A tight, clean, sound copy in black cloth covered boards with gold lettering on the spine with minor overall shelf wear with some glue and paper residue as well as some scattered light surface damage on the front and back fixed endpapers form where the library mylar sleeve endflap was glued to the boards plus there are the usual library marks, stamps, embossing, and labels on the top and bottom outside paper edges, the front and fixed and free endpapers, the title page, and the copyright page plus there is some very light yellowing of the paper plus there is some light staining on the bottom and right outside paper edges plus there is some very, very light water wrinkling on the top and bottom paper edges of about the last ten pages. Edited by Margaret I. Cole. With an introduction by Lord Beveridge. A volume of the diaries of Beatrice Webb, prepared after her death, and covering the period 1924-1932. They are noted for their first-hand accounts of British political figures of the day. The period covered saw the formation and short life of the first Labour Government and this diary provides first-hand source information on the inner history of this event. There is also information on the British General Strike, the author's work as a writer and involvement and/or association with politics, general developments in British politics, and the author's naive support for the Soviet Union which would lead her to make a trip there.
