An exceptionally bright copy of the signed Edition de Luxe of Percival Wren's enormously popular adventure novel 'Beau Geste', in the publisher's original unclipped dust wrapper.Of one thousand copies of this Limited Edition produced, this is numbered four-hundred and eighty-seven, and signed by Wren.Illustrated with a portrait frontispiece, four tipped in colour plates, and sixteen monochrome plates from British artist and illustrator Helen McKie. Collated, complete.First published in 1924, Wren's enormously popular adventure novel about three English brothers who enlist separately in the French Foreign Legion following the theft of a valuable jewel from the country house of a relative. Set prior to the first world war, it has been adapted for the screen several times.With the inscription of John Howard to the front free endpaper. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, fine. Spotting to fore edge of text block. Front hinge strained but holding firm. Former owner's inscription to front free endpaper. Dust wrapper back strip lightly age toned, with light marks to front wrap. Light edgewear to back strip head and tail. Internally, firmly bound. Significant spotting to first and last few pages, otherwise generally clean and bright. Very Good
